Obscure wines can be a LOT of fun…Wednesday 3/15 Wine Class
You will never hear me muttering to myself that I know every single fact about wine. If I ever decide that I’ve learned all that I can, I promise to immediately stop drinking on the spot. It will just never happen because every day I learn something new, fun and different. Maybe it’s a cool little tidbit about an appellation or some up-and-coming Winemaker or a newly discovered grape that originated in Slovakia or Sardinia or wherever. There is always something new to learn in the wine biz; so many tales to tell. And that is what is fun; I love digging into the bottomless pit of wine info that is out there and coming up with some new gems.
Obscure wine varietals and regions thrill me. Don’t get me wrong…I love Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. I do. I’ve been known to wax poetic over a just-right Chablis or Maconnais and will happily quaff down Pinot Noir from just about anywhere. With food, without food. Doesn’t matter. I love them. But every so often I become smitten with some esoteric wine and I make it my mission to learn everything I possibly can about it. It would be fun to drink these wines with other like minded people.
That’s where you come in. You and all of your wine-loving friends. I’ve discovered two new wines that are super yummy. A fun still white from the Douro (yes, the Douro has more than Port to offer us!) and an equally interesting red from France that isn’t from Bordeaux, Burgundy, or the Rhone. I can’t wait to taste these wines (and some cheese) with you and your cadre of pals while we discuss what makes the wines so delicious. How fun is that? Learn something new, taste something great.
I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday 3/15 at 8:00 P.M.
