French wines? Pourquoi pas…Wednesday, 29 March 2017 at 8 p.m.
We have a fun night planned this Wednesday night with three great wines from little-known regions in France. I’d like to explore the regions, the grapes, and the cheeses that pair best with each wine and get your feedback.
Château des Alouettes Blanc, Costières de Nîmes 2014. The most southeasterly region of the Rhone Valley, known for intensely fragrant varietals, three of which are in this wine. Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Marsanne. Based on this wine’s aromas, you will think you’re about to have a sweet wine. Not so! Be ready to be surprised by its lovely grapefruit notes, not to mention the perfect cheese pairing I have planned for it
Château de la Roulerie, Anjou 2012. I can’t wait for you to taste this gorgeous Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley because it’s so different stylistically from California Cab Franc. This wine is a master of subtlety and is sometimes served chilled during the heat of summer. Just delicious. Pretty amazing on its own and even better with the right cheese.
Château Pineraie, Cahors 2012. This is a serious wine with its blend of 85% Malbec and 15% Merlot. You’ll definitely find this easy drinking, a wine you could serve with a perfectly grilled hamburger or steak. Let’s discuss!
Wednesday ~ 29 March, 2017 at 8 pm. $15 for 3 wines and cheese to pair with it.
